I rarely plan my work, preferring it to develop spontaneously – although I usually have a fair idea of how it needs to take form. When out stetching, I use diagrams of shapes and composition – putting colour and ideas for later work from scribbled memos. My studio is in a beautiful garden where I am fortunate to have plenty of inspiration and tranquilty: I love to work outside, especially along the coastline. Each year Mike and I try to have a month in Provence, where colours never cease to stimulate me.

I seem to have a need to paint , and think myself fortunate to be in a position to do so.
