Billie WillcocksBorn and educated in Highbury, North London before moving to Dorset in her teenage years where she studied at Yeovil School of Art and then obtained a Diploma at Bath Teacher Training College where she took Art and Ceramics as her main study. Billie has exhibited widely both nationally and locally – notably: The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol Has works in collections in USA, Japan, Netherlands, Spain and Australia. Member of Sherborne Arts Club I rarely plan my work, preferring it to develop spontaneously – although I usually have a fair idea of how it needs to take form. When out stetching, I use diagrams of shapes and composition – putting colour and ideas for later work from scribbled memos. My studio is in a beautiful garden where I am fortunate to have plenty of inspiration and tranquilty: I love to work outside, especially along the coastline. Each year Mike and I try to have a month in Provence, where colours never cease to stimulate me. I seem to have a need to paint , and think myself fortunate to be in a position to do so.
