Elizabeth Adam

Artist Potter

Whilst my main working life has been as a Senior Lecturer in the London area I still exhibited my own work which at that time was mainly silk-screen prints and etchings. I was involved, too, with the organisation of the Gallery Group of a large Art Centre in West London and helped with the setting up of a number of exhibitions.
My History of Art qualification from the University of London has helped enormously in my own artwork.

After coming to Dorset I formed a group of practising artists with the main focus around life study using professional models – this group continues to meet in my studio. In more recent years I have found much enjoyment working in ceramics and have shown extensively in London and the South West. I have strived through my stonework and raku to achieve a great bowl or sculptural form with a certain time-less quality. In the last year or so I have used coloured slips and glazes to decorate earthenware-fired pottery with generous splashed of colour.

I am a member of Wessex Contemporary Arts and have exhibited regularly with them, with Dorset Art Weeks Open Studios and other venues include the Slade Gallery and with Landmark.
